Does anyone else feel that the time just whizzes by?  I really thought that once the children had gone back to school, things would quieten down a bit.  Not at all, if anything they seemed to rev up!

Lauren and Deana are continuing to handle between 70 and 80 lessons a week
which is an amazing achievement after just under twelve months of trading.  We are now seeing a real mixture of Clients, some who have ridden for years and who just want to “brush up” their skills or try a jumping or dressage class and lots of brand new riders (both children and adults) who are really enjoying the challenge of learning to ride.  Everyone has a different aim and that is lovely.  Some aim to hack out on the beach and some are aiming to join a class.  We think that our newly introduced Progression Tests will give everyone a bit of confidence and an all important aim.

Our Introduction to Jumping Class on a Wednesday (6.00pm to 7.00pm) is very well attended
.  We like to keep our group lessons small for maximum effect.  We now have four in this class and if anyone is interested in joining, particularly for the winter period, please do let us know and we will arrange an extra class.

From Tuesday 20th October 2009 between 7.00pm and 8.00pm we will of offering an Adult Flatwork Class limited to four riders only and at a cost of £15.00 per person (on their own horse or pony).  We already have two reservations for the class, so do please book early if you are interested.

We have had a lot of requests for an Adult Jumping class on a Saturday and we will be offering this from Saturday 24th October between 1.00pm and 2.00pm again with numbers limited to four and at a cost of £15.00 on your own horse or pony.  We think a lot of our Clients will prefer a class during the daytime.

Pony Club is going extremely well and we now have eighteen members who come to us on a Friday between 4.30pm and 6.00pm at a cost of £12.00 per session.  Our members range in age from five years to thirteen years and the group have really settled down well together with the older children helping the younger ones.  After a ridiculous five week wait, the Pony Club sweatshirts have arrived and everyone looks really smart in them.  The children have just completed their Handling and Grooming badge and are now working for their Saddlery and Tacking Up badge.  Never has our tack been so well cleaned!  We have decided at the end of each month to work towards the Bronze Awards too so the children will have a group riding lesson with Deana and Lauren also.  So many of the children who were very quiet to begin with have gained a lot of confidence, not just with the horses and ponies, but also from being in a group.  If you know of a child who you think would benefit, please let us know.  We would love more members.

Tosca, Basset, Marjorie and Samantha are now becoming positively “old hands” at Shetland Pony Birthday Parties (“Is it Sunday AGAIN?” says Tosca most weeks).  We’ve discovered that Samantha absolutely loves music!  At the moment Cotton Eye Joe is her absolute favourite and she really gets a stride on when we are playing Musical Shetland Ponies (yes, really!).  We have been amazed by the interest in the parties and are now booked up well into November.  Would anyone be interested in a Christmas Shetland Pony Party?  I am sure the shetties would be keen.  They love attention.  We can now cater for up to ten children at one time having drafted Poppy into the group!  Poppy feels it is all a bit beneath her really, but she will give it a go once in a while!

The beach hacks out are continuing right through the winter.  We have a party coming on Monday from Blackpool who have always wanted to hack out on a quiet beach.  They are going to make a day of it and visit the Dalton Wildlife Park too.  We are so pleased that people are coming to us from out of the area to enjoy the wonderful facilities that this area has to offer.

Hmm, I’ve just had a thought.  We could offer a beach hack out followed by mulled wine afterwards – do you think that would be allowed?!!

Come and see us soon!
